State Attachment Training for IAS 2021 Batch

(3rd July to 5th August, 2023)

The Institute of Management in Government (IMG), Thiruvananthapuram, successfully conducted the State Attachment Training Programme for IAS Officer of 2021 Batch. The programme, directed by Assistant Professors Mubashir E and Tony Jacob, aimed to familiarise the officers with the functioning of the state government’s various departments and its administrative mechanisms.

The delegation included the following officers:

  3. Ms. Meera K (Malappuram)
  4. Mr. Misal Sagar Bharat (Kannur)
  5. Mr. Mithun Premraj (Kasargod)
  6. Mr. Ranjith D (Palakkad)
  7. Ms. Riya Singh (Thiruvananthapuram)
  8. Mr. Sameer Kishan (Kozhikode)

The State Attachment Training Programme provided an opportunity for the officers to engage closely with the functioning of the state and district-level administration. They were attached to various departments, including the General Administration Department, Police Department, Social Justice Department, Disaster Management Authority, and more. This training focused on building a comprehensive understanding of the governance framework and the implementation of various state-led initiatives such as the Nava Kerala Karma Padhathi (NKKP).

Throughout the programme, the officers gained exposure to the day-to-day operations and challenges faced by different state departments and commissions. The attachments with departments such as Disaster Management, Social Justice, and the Forest & Environment Department provided practical learning experiences, while sessions with commissions like the Human Rights Commission and Child Rights Commission offered insights into statutory and regulatory aspects.

The State Attachment Training Programme for IAS Officers was a success, equipping the officers with essential knowledge and skills relevant to their future roles in administration. The combination of field visits, departmental attachments, and specialised training sessions ensured that the officers developed a well-rounded understanding of the state’s governance system. The experience has prepared the officers to engage effectively with various stakeholders and make informed decisions in their administrative capacities.
